Product pages use words like "certified", "tested to" and "meets", and they do not mean the same thing. We looked the models up in IAPMO R&T's plumbing listing on 20 October 2026. This is what we found, and what we did not find.
A bidet sprays water close to the body and is connected to the pipe that feeds your taps. If the water pressure in the street drops, water can be pulled backwards into that pipe. That is called backflow. The 2024 International Plumbing Code (section 408.2) says a bidet's water supply must be protected against it.
The plumbing standard for bidets is ASME A112.4.2 / CSA B45.16 ("water closet personal hygiene devices"). It includes backflow protection. A certifier such as IAPMO R&T tests the exact model and puts it on a public listing; the product may then carry the cUPC mark. Electric seats also need an electrical safety listing (UL 1431).
"Tested to ASME A112.4.2" on a box or in a manual is not the same thing. It can mean only some sections were tested, by the maker itself. A certification names a certifier, a model and a listing you can look up.
All of these appear by model number on an active IAPMO R&T listing to ASME A112.4.2-2021 / CSA B45.16-2021. Many bidets are made by a factory and sold under a brand name; the brand then appears under "Additional company information" on the factory's listing. That is normal.

Model letters matter: "EW" is elongated white, "RW" round white. Check that the model number on the product page matches the listing.
We searched IAPMO's directory by brand and model on 20 October 2026. We did not locate these; a listing under another name, or certification or testing elsewhere, is not ruled out:
We found no recalls for any of these. Not found means we could not verify the backflow protection from a listing, not that it is missing; the maker's own documentation may describe it. If your local code requires it and the product does not document it, the protection has to come from your plumbing — ask a plumber before you install.
A bidet saves toilet paper, not a fortune: for a household of two it is roughly $85 a year. Run your own numbers — people, rolls, price — before you choose one.
